OnionStreams is designed to respect your privacy. We collect minimal data to provide and improve our service:

Anonymous engagement data: When you browse titles, click on movies or TV shows, use search, or add items to your watchlist, we record anonymous interaction scores. This data includes the title ID, your detected region, and the type of action — but never your identity, IP address, or personal information. This data helps us understand which content is in demand across different regions.

Region detection: We use IP-based geolocation to detect your approximate country for showing relevant streaming availability. Your detected region code (e.g. "SE" for Sweden) is stored locally in your browser. We do not store your IP address.

Local storage: Your watchlist and region preference are stored in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device unless you sign in with Google.

Google Sign-In (optional): If you choose to sign in with Google, we store your name, email address, and profile picture to provide personalized features like synced watchlists and recommendations. We do not share this data with third parties.

How We Use Data

We use collected data to display streaming availability in your region, provide personalized recommendations (for signed-in users), and generate aggregated, anonymous demand reports showing which titles are popular in different regions. These reports contain no personally identifiable information.

Third-Party Services

TMDB: We use The Movie Database (TMDB) API to provide movie and TV show information, images, and streaming provider data. TMDB's privacy policy applies to data they process.

Amazon Associates: Links to Amazon Prime Video include our Amazon Associates affiliate tag. When you click these links and make qualifying purchases on Amazon, OnionStreams earns a small commission. Amazon's privacy policy governs your interaction with their services.

Google Authentication: If you sign in, Google's privacy policy applies to the authentication process.

Vercel: Our site is hosted on Vercel. Their infrastructure handles serving the site to you.

Cookies

OnionStreams uses minimal cookies. We use browser local storage for your watchlist and region preference, and session storage for navigation state. Google Sign-In uses cookies for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

Your Rights

You can clear all locally stored data by clearing your browser's storage. If you have a signed-in account and wish to have your data deleted, please contact us. Since our engagement scoring is anonymous, there is no personal data to delete from those records.
